Outdoor Lighting

Light That Transforms Your Yard.

Low-voltage outdoor lighting that highlights hardscape, lights pathways for safety, and extends usable evening hours. Integrated during the build — not bolted on after.

Low-Voltage LED Lighting

The cheapest upgrade with the biggest impact.

Most landscape budgets put lighting last. That's backwards. Lighting is what makes your yard usable after sunset, what wakes up your hardscape's texture, and what prevents trips and falls on stairs and walkways.

We install low-voltage LED systems with quality fixtures, transformer-sized for future expansion, buried wire to code, and clean connections that won't corrode in a Utah winter.

Where lighting goes.

  • Step + stair lights — safety + ambiance built into hardscape risers
  • Path lights — guide visitors from drive to door, lighting the route safely
  • Accent uplights — highlight trees, walls, architectural features
  • Wall wash — soft glow on retaining walls, fences, garden walls
  • Down lights — mounted high in trees, casting a moonlight effect on patios
  • Underwater — pool, fountain, water feature lighting
Our Process

How We Install Outdoor Lighting

01

Lighting design walk

Walk the property at dusk if possible. Identify focal points, safety zones, ambiance areas. Plan fixture types, beam spreads, and color temperature.

02

Transformer + circuit plan

Right-size the transformer (typically 150–300 watts) with 30%+ headroom for future fixtures. Plan wire runs to keep voltage drop minimal.

03

Wire routing

Wires buried 6 inches deep, routed under hardscape during the build, conduit where required. No surface wires running across yards.

04

Fixture install

Premium brass, copper, or composite fixtures placed and aimed. Connections crimped + heat-shrink sealed against moisture.

05

Aim + adjust

We come back at night to fine-tune aim. Light placement looks right at noon and right at midnight only when adjusted in the dark.

06

Smart controls + walkthrough

Photocell, timer, or smart-app control. Walkthrough on programming and seasonal schedule adjustments.

Why Mountain View

Lighting That Lasts

Right-sized transformer

30%+ headroom for future fixtures. No "out of capacity" surprise when you want to add lights.

Sealed connections

Crimped + heat-shrink. No twist-on connectors that corrode in two years.

Integrated during build

Wires routed under hardscape during construction. No retrofitting through finished surfaces.

Premium fixtures

Brass, copper, or quality composite. Cheap fixtures fail in 1–2 winters.

Aimed at night

We come back after dark to fine-tune. The only way to get lighting right.

Smart control options

Photocell, timer, or app-based. We program for sunset/sunrise tracking and seasonal changes.

Common Questions

Outdoor Lighting FAQs

How much does outdoor lighting cost?
Typical residential systems run $2,500–$8,000 depending on fixture count and complexity. Per-fixture average is $150–$400 installed. We provide written quotes after a lighting walk.
How much does it add to my power bill?
Almost nothing. LED low-voltage systems draw very little power — a typical full system costs $2–$8 per month in electricity.
Can I add lights later?
Yes — if the transformer is sized correctly. We always specify with 30%+ headroom so you can add 5–10 fixtures over time without replacing the system.
Will the wires get damaged by my dog or sprinklers?
Wire is buried 6 inches deep, run under hardscape where possible. Direct-burial cable is rated for sprinkler-zone use. Most damage we see is from rototillers, not dogs.
What about smart controls?
We can integrate with WiFi-based controllers like Hunter Hydrawise, Rachio, or fixture-specific apps. Most clients are happy with a photocell + timer setup.
How long does install take?
For an existing yard, 1–3 days depending on system size. When integrated into a new build, we run wire during base prep so install is mostly invisible to the schedule.
